Tonight's monster work was a huge success: I can now control (parts of) my machine through ReplicatorG! This leaves little remaining before printety-print!
Too bad we'll be out of town for Halloween. Otherwise I'd be doing this.

and if it's one of the ones I got to you assembled, they were working here with some nema-17 motors, but I don't remember what the potentiometers were set to (one of them might be pegged high, I was having trouble with one axis binding).
ReplyDeleteIt's one of the assembled ones, yes. I'll just adjust it and see what speed I end up with.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me why the drivers have to burn all that heat when idling? I'm sure there's a reason they don't just lower their power usage.
The newer models are mostly current choppers, but I don't think the older generation like you have does anything really smart (it's just connecting the coils to power). Compare the datasheet of what you have vs TI's drv8811 or Allegro A4983 to see the difference in technology.
