Language weirdness examined, compared and cataloged. German is slightly weirder than Norwegian, Danish (probably) in between. English is relatively simple, and Hindi is as normal as they come. Too bad its counting system is a bizarre mess.

Notice that weirdness != difficulty. Weirdness is how many features are different from the norm, but it may be different in a simpler way.

It sounds very strange German is nbr 10 from the top...
ReplyDeleteThank to Lars Clausen for sharing the Lang. Log.. I guess, it's better to learn Mandarin, then you can continue to learn Cantonese, it's much easier (for me)..
