We will do medieval battles using foam-covered weapons next Sunday in Englischer Garten south-west of the lake (see http://goo.gl/maps/5ael9). All are welcome, beginners and on-lookers too. Instruction in both English and German is available.

Instruction in both English and German is available. Bring water and loose-fitting clothes that can stand getting sweaty and dirty. Boots with ankle support , knee protection or leather gloves are recommended. We will postpone in case of heavy rain or very slippery ground. Belegarth is full-speed, full-contact, free-form medieval combat using heavily padded swords, shields, flails, etc. The rules are simple, the weapons are safe, and the experience is the closest you'll get to being on in an actual battlefield of the Dark Ages. Anyone can join, no experience nor armor needed. We have a large number of medieval weapons available, from swords over axes and flails to bow and arrow. Any number of people can join, the more the merrier. More details at http://www.monachium.org . events/ci4n5etbt7...

Gotta ride the story-train, here my trip to Seattle. Good thing it didn't pick the whiteboards I snapped in the offices.

This is what I do on Sundays in Englischer Garten. Only, alas, not with quite that many people yet.

There's a reason Bodensee is the fruit area of Germany: They have a nice little microclimate there. The things that happen around the English Channel are curious. And - go Skagen!

The first 14 pictures are from our office (a year ago, when it wasn't as crowded). The remaining are from the Tel Aviv office, and has a lot of inspiration for our upcoming bigger office.

I have to admit, this is a catchy line.  It appeals to the inner cynic in us all and makes a certain amount of sense in a core, "what can you do for me," type of thinking. But it's hog-wash. I work for Google so I follow the news about the company and I'm really tired of seeing that first line, or some variation of it, spouted by people who really don't care enough to want to think it through.  It does not work that way! Yes, Google is a company.  And yes, Google is a reasonably large company (though not that large compared to the likes of IBM, GE, etc.).  But though a company is a single entity in the eyes of the law, it is not run like that.  Google is full of many thousands of individuals, many of whom are more rabid about user privacy than the privacy watchdogs that complain.  I've watched them take Larry and Sergey to task on stage about the smallest things.  ...
