Interesting. I've still been ignoring LED for home lighting purchases, on the assumption that they're wildly expensive, ridiculously weak, or both. But if I compare e.g. http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/800892/ and http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/757000/ the LED one is actually looking quite reasonable. I'll take LED more seriously next time I need something.
ReplyDeleteOne question is how humidity, dust, and other airborne contaminates will affect the lifespan of these CREE LED lights being open to the ambient environment.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice idea of the cooling.
ReplyDeleteHowever, since it seems that there is no more space for electrical driver, and the lamp may use AC-LED with multi-serial-connected junctions inside the LED package as light source. I strongly doubt the reliability and the efficiency.
Cheap but sacrifice something else.
