"As Ronald Reagan’s secretary of state, George Shultz faced off against Muammar Qaddafi, the Soviet Union and Chinese communists.  His latest cause, though, is one few fellow Republicans support: fighting climate change."  At 90, Schultz has no further ambitions but to see his great grandchildren survive.  Hence, he cannot afford the insane denialist cult of his fellow republicans.  

Still a champion of market economics and of the American Pax, he is among the few US conservatives not frantically covering eyes and ears and screaming "nah!" when science offers up the modest proposal that we negotiate moderate measures.... just in case the smartest people on Earth turn out (by weird coincidence) to be smarter than Fox News shills.

I might have, for whatever reason, but who remembers where they log in for several months? Not I. The follow-up page had me change my password, without any other kind of challenge. Nothing very unusual -- it just threw a filament. Toward the middle of 2012, a long standing solar filament suddenly erupted into space producing an energetic Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). The filament had been held up for days by the Sun's ever changing magnetic field and the timing of the eruption was unexpected. Watched closely by the Sun-orbiting Solar Dynamics Observatory, the resulting explosion shot electrons and ions into the Solar System, some of which arrived at Earth three days later and impacted Earth's magnetosphere, causing visible aurorae.
