Warmer oceans provide the moisture and energy for big snow storms. Most of the United States had 71%-80% of their snowstorms in warmer-than-normal years. So yes, the extra snow covering the East Coast is due to climate change.

Settlers of Catan is a great game, especially as an introduction to the non-violent "Eurogames" style. I particularly like it with the Knights and Cities expansion.

Settlers of Catan is a great game, especially as an introduction to the non-violent "Eurogames" style. I particularly like it with the Knights and Cities expansion. However: deliberately not explaining all the rules to get an advantage is unsportsmanlike. Yes, you might forget some, especially in more complex games, and situations may come up where the initial explanation was unclear, but deliberately leaving out rules is on the level of displacing pieces when your opponent's back is turned. http://on.wsj.com/158jfhj
Big wiring day. Rather fiddly due to the limited space on the left, but it worked. Having the Melzi on the right and resistors on the left would have given more space, but then the wires from the PSU might not have been long enough.

Ten warmest years on record are within the last 20 years. Sounds scary enough, but is still just a piece of statistics. The video on this page gives a much better impression of how much global temperature has changed. It's scary, really.

Hadn't seen a calculation of the cost to society of carbon emissions. And apparently the old calculations were low by a factor 5.

Sometimes you're right in being paranoid.  Originally shared by Adrian Knoth "KeySweeper is a stealthy Arduino-based device, camouflaged as a functioning USB wall charger, that wirelessly and passively sniffs, decrypts, logs and reports back (over GSM) all keystrokes from any Microsoft wireless keyboard in the vicinity." http://samy.pl/keysweeper/

Originally shared by Ted Ewen In keeping with my last post... A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to helping the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand. He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript. So, the new monk goes to the head abbot to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in the first copy, it would never be picked up! In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies. The head monk, says, "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son." He goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery where the original manuscripts are held as archives in a locked vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years. Hours go by and nobody sees the old abbot. So, the young monk gets worried and goes down to look for him. He sees him banging his head against the wall and wailing, ...
X axis mounted, but the extruder has some differences I'll have to deal with. nop head What's with the wing nuts opposite the nut traps for fastening the extruder to the X carriage? Is there supposed to be a bolt that I don't see mentioned?
