Det må være på tide at Danmark nationaliserer Legoland som nationalklenodie. Det amerikanske investeringsselskab der ejer Legoland kan jo passende kompenseres baseret på den skattepligtige indkomst de har angivet.

Have I mentioned how much I love all the fancy cars you see around München? This Lamborghini with a green reflective coat was positively shiny.

Put this in Chomsky's pipe and smoke it: A pirate story without a single verb.

Put this in Chomsky's pipe and smoke it: A pirate story without a single verb. A dark and stormy night. The pirate ship, up and down the foamy waves. At the wheel, the rough captain, with compass in his hand. The crew, every eye on the captain. "Starboard," a single word from the captain's mouth. A giant wave. Sailors flat on the deck or over the railing. Ropes for their hands, back on board. A dark island now close, a still lagoon. "Careful, careful," the captain's words. "Five yards, three yards, two yards, one, … there!" A shriek of wounded wood and a ship-quake. Pirates flat on the deck again. Laughter from the captain. "The boats, quick!" his command. Sailors with years of practice, ropes in hand, busy at the railings. Boats now open, with supplies and oars. "Quietly," the captain's warning, "and with the sacrifices". Four chained youngsters, fear in their eyes, the fatal word in their ears. The mighty s...

This hits the nail on the head in so many ways. So many articles write about "the Google culture" pointing to the perks and the 20% time, but the tools, the openness, the lack of red tape and other ways to make it easier to do what you're there to do really is what makes Google the best place to work.

It's official now: We're moving into a new and much larger office in 2015. The location is not as fantastic as the current smack-in-the-center-of-town offices, but we get to have much more say in how the office is designed, since it's not a protected building. We're now in the process of coming up with the craziest, most unusual, most Googley ideas for what to do with it. Feel free to add yours!

I'm still figuring out which room can be converted in a stable for the pony. CISPA - SOPA v.2 - was passed by the US House. After a closed-doors debate (https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20130409/14053622647/law-should-never-be-secret-so-why-will-cispa-debate-be-secret.shtml). According to its proponents, the huge gaping privacy holes would only be used "rarely" (http://news.yahoo.com/cispa-fourth-amendment-143420272.html). But in reality, we can't know, since CISPA information sharing would be exempt from FOIA requests (http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/apr/18/cispa-2013-house-vote-internet-privacy).

Spring is coming, and it's time to meet on the battlefield again! We will be starting the new Belegarth sword-fighting season this Sunday (21/4), and all are welcome, seasoned veterans as well as rank beginners. We will meet in Englischer Garten near http://goo.gl/maps/1efu1 at 11:00 (but you can drop in anytime) and fight until roughly 14:00, then those who wish go off to have a well-deserved lunch.

We will meet in Englischer Garten near http://goo.gl/maps/1efu1 at 11:00 (but you can drop in anytime) and fight until roughly 14:00, then those who wish go off to have a well-deserved lunch. What is Belegarth, you may ask? It's full-speed, full-contact, free-form medieval combat using heavily padded swords, shields, flails, etc. The rules are simple, the weapons are safe, and the experience is the closest you'll get to being on in an actual battlefield of the Dark Ages. Anyone can join, no experience nor armor needed. We have about 20 swords, 2 shields, a flail, and bow and arrow available, but any number of people can join, the more the merrier. Bring water and loose-fitting clothes that can stand getting sweaty and dirty. Boots with ankle support or leather glo...

The pain, the horrible pain... Fortunately, it appears to be a replaceable part, or might be somewhat fixable with a mild abrasive. Now I can experiment:)

An interesting analysis of the "vicious cycle" that the utility companies could run into if people start doing more solar. Of course, for the rest of us it would be more of a virtuous cycle.

Time to say goodbye to the Arctic ice and hello to exciting weather.

Time to say goodbye to the Arctic ice and hello to exciting weather. Originally shared by Yonatan Zunger I want to tell you a very unpleasant truth about climate change. It's a lot more serious than we've been discussing in public. (Warning the first: This is not going to be a cheerful sort of post. It will, very likely, leave you feeling deeply unsettled. If you do not want this, you should stop reading now.) (Warning the second: This is not a post on which to say "I don't believe climate change is happening!" or "this is a left-wing plot!" or "I don't believe there's adequate proof that humans are causing it!" There are times that I have the patience and interest to discuss what are essentially political arguments about science, and this is not one of them. If you believe this stuff, it's because you have a deep personal need to do so, and best of luck to you with that. But I'll just delete such comments on this post.) The pap...
Hello Light Boxers, I'm Lars, a Dane now living in Munich. I'm a software engineer at Google, but photography has been my main hobby for 13 years. While I like G+ for the many great photographers here, I have despaired of getting good feedback. I hope this community can remedy that lack.

I love it when tech for everyday uses becomes orders of magnitude cheaper. That way lies significant changes.
