Oh, great :( Methane release is not just happening, it's accelerating. Partly due to Arctic sources thawing, partly due to fracking. Is there anything fracking isn't bad for?

More winter views, probably the last for now since the snow is slowly melting.

Prepping for learning.

I'm getting winter for Christmas...

I'm getting winter for Christmas... Shots taken with my new Samsung S5. The HDR mode makes it almost stupidly easy to take good backlight shots.

Comparing bread making methods with my mother, I noticed she adds yoghurt, in order to break down the phytic acid in the whole wheat flour. Having never looked much at that, I found this article among others, and it seems there could be a connection with some of Mickey Blake's uptake problems. I'll want to double check the (copious) references, but it's worth keeping an eye on.

Google Keep is my go to note-taking app, so this extension looks quite appealing. Unfortunately, the Android app won't know about it.

Mounting more parts on the frame, and lots of cable work this weekend.

I'm starting to look at places it could be cool to have a Belegarth event. An actual historical castle (rather than the plywood ones they have in the US) would make for a fantastic backdrop, so I started collecting castles, castle ruins, and palaces in the area. A plain Google Maps search doesn't get all of these, I had to vary the terms a bit, and also got some help from official listings. The more I worked on it, the more castles kept popping up. And Munich is not even in high-density area for castles.

Originally shared by David Brin "As Ronald Reagan’s secretary of state, George Shultz faced off against Muammar Qaddafi, the Soviet Union and Chinese communists.  His latest cause, though, is one few fellow Republicans support: fighting climate change."  At 90, Schultz has no further ambitions but to see his great grandchildren survive.  Hence, he cannot afford the insane denialist cult of his fellow republicans.   Still a champion of market economics and of the American Pax, he is among the few US conservatives not frantically covering eyes and ears and screaming "nah!" when science offers up the modest proposal that we negotiate moderate measures.... just in case the smartest people on Earth turn out (by weird coincidence) to be smarter than Fox News shills. http://www.businessweek.com/news/2014-12-01/reagan-statesman-s-sunshi...

Veeery interesting research. Better batteries, using CO2 in manufacturing. Doesn't say how much energy it uses.

Originally shared by Pat Kight What if you could turn atmospheric carbon dioxide into nanoporous graphene and use it to make supercapacitors faster & cheaper than current technology, at little cost to the environment - and perhaps even a benefit? Turns out you can, according to this just-of-the-presses release from the university where I work. It's not likely to solve global climate change, but it's still a pretty exciting development in the field of energy storage: http://oregonstate.edu/ua/ncs/archives/2014/dec/atmospheric-carbon-dioxide-used-energy-storage-products http://oregonstate.edu/ua/ncs/archives/2014/dec/atmospheric-carbon-dioxide-used-energy-storage-products
Just a note on what I've been buying and what remains to be gotten.
Just a small update involved the wrong size things. Again.
